‘Police foil Maoist bid to disrupt R-Day’

Bokaro: The District police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF)’s 26th battalion on Wednesday launched a search operation in the forests of Jhumra Hill under Gomia block following the recovery of CPI (Maoist) items, police said, adding that they had foiled an attempt of triggering violence on Republic Day. Bokaro SP Chandan Kumar Jha said they had information about the movement of 16-member armed Maoist squad led by regional committee member Virsen in the area and conducted an operation. “We found a radio set and several daily needs items like black uniforms, winter clothes, food and utensils, scissors, knives, mobile charger etc,” he said. Jha himself is monitoring the search operation. Security has been intensified outside the forest too to nab Maoists if they try to escape. “Acting on information, anti-Naxal search operation has been started in jungles. We will continue the operation until the rebels are nabbed,” he said.
