Kerala Blasters Assistant Coach Ishfaq Ahmed After the Match

"I think when we go back and analyse the match, we had a lot of chance, we missed them. We need to check the height of the goalpost today (chuckles). They pressed us high initially but then we got control. A little bit unfortunate, the boys worked hard, they stuck to our plans. The coach will be disappointed that we didn't get three points but we go on and look at the next games.

"It will come sooner or later but I think right now I am learning a lot from our head coach. He is a very good human being and he is teaching me a lot in trainings and my time will come.

"You did everything to get the three points but you couldn't and it's disappointing. But I am glad they were really motivated and wanted to win this match, it's not easy without the coach at the sidelines. We go on from here."

Jamshedpur FC Head Coach Owen Coyle After the Game

"In the first few minutes, we were very comfortable. The last 15 minutes from Kerala were great, their players were getting in between the lines. We had chances and we could have scored too. It was important to keep the clean sheet as well. Without any disrespect, this is a club that has never been in the playoffs, so these draws play a part as well as much as I wanted to win. Pleased with the point.

"Sometimes even as a striker, you contribute to goals instead of just scoring and Valskis does that. He is still getting chances, it's just about finishing them and he's a great striker. If we can get some better crosses, he can start scoring for fun. As a team may be we can help him more.

"I think we did control the game in the beginning but we lost a bit from the point where Kerala took control. We are a team who haven't been in the playoffs, so we habe to take it bit-by-bit. There's all to play for and it's never over. That's what we strive for."

21:41 (IST)

Jordan Murray After the Match

"It's probably the most frustrating match I have played in my career. To come off the park and play like that but not score, I am at loss of words.

"We have been unlucky in so many of our games but the mindset of the players can be affected by draws rather than win. It's just about believing in ourselves here.

"We look back at our first game and we got a lot of chances from in behind and we tried to do the same thing. We had so many chances, Gary was also frustrated that it could only hit the post. But the positive is we were in those positions. We practice more in training and go on for the next game.

"It is very different. Not having gaffer there. Having his voice and tactics even at drinks break, it's different. But we tried to do our best, stick to what he told us ahead of the match but it's different to not have the gaffer at the touchline."

21:36 (IST)

Hero of the Match Sahal Abdul Samad After the Game

"It's frustrating because we worked so hard, believed in ourselves. We created so many chances but couldn't score. We just have to keep going on.

"I am happy to contribute for the team. I am happy with my entire team's performance.

"The positive mindset from the team - that's what we take from here. And we look forward to the next game."

What a half that! Jamshedpur FC were creating chances but Neijus Valskis didn't look very sharp. Puitea was lively for Kerala Blasters as he delivered a stunning ball which Murray failed to bury and hit the crossbar close to half time. Gary Hooper's stunning strike from outside the box hit the crossbar and seemed to have crossed the goal line but the linesman did not spot it and did not give the goal. Towards the end, Jordan Murray headed at the goal but was denied by Rehenesh. So many chances and no goal, will Kerala Blasters go on to rue these missed opportunities?

It was a frustrating night for the Blasters as they hit the post thrice and missed a number of opportunities and had to settle for just a point. ISL 2020-21 FULL COVERAGE |  ISL 2020-21 SCHEDULE  | ISL 2020-21 POINTS TABLE

Both Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC have 14 points after 13 games and are at the ninth and eighth place in the league table, respectively. Both teams will want a win and no less here in order to leapfrog three and two teams, respectively to sixth spot in the standings. Kerala have two wins, two draws and one loss in their last five games while Jamshedpur FC drew their previous game before which they lost three consecutive matches. The last meeting between the two sides witnessed a five-goal thriller that Kerala won. And with a lot at stake on Wednesday, more of the same could be in store.

Kerala Blasters assistant coach Ishfaq Ahmed, who will be filling in for their suspended coach Kibu Vicuna, is hopeful of more clean sheets coming their way. "We had two clean sheets and the reason is, other teams also play football and they want to score," he said. "In the first half of the season, we know that we didn't have a great start. We missed some crucial players in many matches but that is in the past now. We have been playing better football now. It's always a personal goal for our team and the goalkeeper (Albino Gomes) to keep more clean sheets as they can make you win the championship. Albino is trying and he is doing his job. Hopefully, the whole team will support him and we manage to keep more clean sheets by the end of the season."

Despite shipping goals often, Kerala will be proud of their exploits in the attacking third with only Mumbai City FC and FC Goa having scored more goals than them. Also, 9 different players have been among the goals - most by a team. In contrast, Jamshedpur have not been the most efficient in terms of scoring goals. They have netted only on 13 occasions, which is the third worst-tally in the league alongside bottom-placed SC East Bengal. They struggled to score in their goalless draw against Hyderabad FC in the previous game, but one major takeaway for Owen Coyle was the attacking intent his side displayed. "With Farukh (Choudhary) and Len Doungel coming in, they added great dimension to our forward play and it was evident in the Hyderabad game," he said. "That was a real positive. We saw that we were a more attack-minded team, going for the three points and wanted that momentum."
