Vaccination drive starts in Myanmar

Vaccination drive starts in Myanmar

Naypyidaw, Jan 27 (UNI) Vaccination drive started in Myanmar on Wednesday with healthcare workers being the first to receive the shot.

Myanmar's vaccination program is based on free vaccines it received from India.

The South East Asian nation also received vaccines from People's Republic of China.

Myanmar recently received the first batch of 1.5 million doses of Covishield vaccine from the Indian government and this consignment will be enough for 750,000 people.

After frontline health workers and volunteers who would be vaccinated from Wednesday onwards, parliamentarians would be given the shot from Friday onwards, reported a website quoting a statement from the Health and Sports Ministry.
