A Deputy Provincial Councillor, who was wounded in a bomb blast in Afghanistan’s northern province of Kunduz, succumbed to his injuries, said Chairman of the Council Mohammad Yusuf Ayubi on Wednesday.

The Councillor Safiullah Amiri sustained critical injuries following an explosion in Kunduz on Tuesday.

Amiri suucumbed to his injuries at a hospital later in the day, Ayubi told Xinhua.

The blast, which also killed a provincial official’s son and wounded two others, was the latest in a string of targeted attacks in recent months.

Kunduz province, nearly 250-km north of Afghan capital of Kabul, has been the inflicted by Taliban-led insurgency for a decade.
