Chennai:
Following a brutal robbery in Seerkazhi, the Mayiladuthurai police conducted an encounter, during which a robber was shot dead. The gang of three was busted by the cops on Wednesday, two of whom were taken under police custody.
The three suspects broke into the residence of a jewelry shop owner Dhanraj, at Seerkazhi, Mayiladuthurai. About 16kg of Gold was looted and the family members were brutally attacked.
Dhanraj's wife Asha (45) and Son Akhil (28) succumbed to injuries while he and his daughter-in-law survived.
The case was registered after evidences from the spot were collected. Meanwhile, the police started the investigation and rounded up robbers hiding in Erukkur, Mayiladuthurai.
The robbed jewelries have also been recovered. DGP Tripathi praised Sirkazhi Police for their quick action and arresting the culprits within 4 hours of the incident.
