Roti, Kapda, Makaan guaranteed under BJP govt: UP CM

Gorakhpur, Jan 27 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday transferred Rs 2,409 crore in the accounts of over 3.42 lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) Urban and said that the basic necessities of the people of the state are guaranteed under the BJP government's rule.
“Roti, Kapada, Makaan was barely a slogan in the previous governments but in the present central and the state government, it is a guarantee. We (central and the state government) are giving a guarantee of livelihood and a house and it has only become possible with the immense support of the people,” he said.
Before 2017, UP stood at the 27th position in the PMAY and after the BJP government took charge in 2017, we worked on war footing measures and the state reached to 1st rank in three years. As many as 16.82 lakh people in urban areas, more than 23 lakh people in the rural areas have benefited from the scheme, the CM said.
According to the intentions of Prime Minister Narendra Yogi, the target of housing for all will be achieved by 2022 and the happiness of the beneficiaries who are getting the benefits of the scheme is quite visible. “This happiness could have come earlier (in the previous governments) but the poor were not on their agenda. “Today, the people are getting the benefits of housing, electricity, LPG, health facilities, etc, under various schemes,” he said.

Asserting the beneficiaries to use the money only for constructing a house, the CM said that bribery was a culture in the previous governments of Congress, Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) when Rs 85 out of Rs 100 went into the pockets of 100 middlemen and scamsters.
“To ensure that the money of government schemes reaches directly to the beneficiaries, our PM Modi got Jan Dhan accounts opened. If anyone asks for money, complain to your MP, MLA, CM Helpline or the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) Helpline. Strict action will be taken and the entire property of the person seeking money will be seized,” CM Yogi said.
The CM also appealed to the public representatives for a weekly review of the houses being constructed under the PMAY and ensure that the funds given to the beneficiaries are used only for building the houses. He also virtually interacted with 10 beneficiaries of Varanasi, Mathura, Ayodhya, Saharanpur and Ghaziabad and handed over the keys to ten beneficiaries of Gorakhpur.
On the occasion, urban development minister Ashutosh Tandon, informed the CM about the progress of the PMAY (Urban) and said that UP is at the top slot in the implementation of the scheme.
