On the heels of his quickly sold-out Converse collaboration in December last year, Joe Robinson, otherwise known as Joe Freshgoods, announced today that he will be giving away 100 unreleased pairs in a new colorway.
These limited-release sneakers feature a floral print drawn in black ink on the uppers of Converse Chuck Taylor 70 High sneakers in a cream colorway with a pink flower on the side with the capsule’s tagline “Not a Bootleg” written inside the design’s yellow center. The designer teased the offering on Instagram today with several close-up images.
In the inside of the pink shoebox, Robinson left a short handwritten note as a reminder of why he never gave up on his dream collaboration. “In 2017, I bought 34 pairs of 70s printed on top of em and sold them with a crate,” the underside of the box’s lid reads. “It was an unofficial collab. 2020, it’s official. This pair is for you.” He closed the inscription with a small hand-drawn heart.
Making this collaboration into an official partnership served as the central message of the collection and its branding.

In November last year, the artist teased the collection on Instagram sharing an orange Converse box signed with a similar message. “* Not a bootleg this time – JFG,” the cover read.
While the series of drops with Converse are memorable, this new release comes off of a year with several successful partnerships under Robinson’s belt. Last February, he collaborated with New Balance on their “No Emotions Are Emotions” sneakers during the NBA All-Star Weekend. For the capsule collection, Robin released two colorways with the footwear label. These included a reimagined Made 992 silhouette and refreshed take on the brand’s OMN1S basketball sneaker.
