Peru approves plan to hike minimum guaranteed internet speed

The Permanent Commission of the Peruvian Congress has approved a proposal to substantially increase minimum guaranteed speeds for internet access, reports business daily Gestion. The approved bills include the obligation to provide at least 90 percent of contracted internet access speeds, compared to the current rule that only requires operators to provide at least 40 percent of the corresponding rate. The project is set to be approved in a second vote in the coming days, said the report.
