Police shut down parties as Australia Day gatherings breach COVID-19 restrictions

Police have shut down multiple parties across the city, including one on a sandbar in Sydney’s south where more than 100 people were gathered.

At 3pm, police attended a party on a sandbar at Lilli Pilli where about 100 people were gathered for a party. Police have dispersed the crowd.

Elsewhere, emergency services were called just after 4pm to a party at Bradley’s Head, in Mosman, after a teenager, believed to be 17, was pulled unconscious from the water. He is yet to be taken to the hospital.

There are also reports of another party near the site of the former Manly Aquarium, were about 100 people have gathered.
