Security beefed up in Assam on R-Day eve

Guwahati, Jan 25 (UNI) Security across Assam has been beefed up ahead of Republic
Day celebration in the state tomorrow.
The central function will be held at the Veterinary College Field at Khanapara in
Guwahati, where Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi will hoist the National Flag.
The entire parade ground and its vicinity has been put under tight security net to
ensure no untoward activities.
Ministers and other dignitaries will unfurl the Tricolour at other locations of the state.
Security has been especially tightened in view of a boycott called by the proscribed
ULFA (I).
The outfit, along with NSCN, have called for boycott of the Republic Day celebration,
along with a general strike from midnight tonight to 1800 hours tomorrow.
