NEW DELHI: India will celebrate its 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday amid unprecedented security measures and Covid restrictions.
The country’s 72nd R-Day parade will have no chief guest after more than five decades, no participation of military veterans and even no stunts by motorcycle daredevils.
Due to the Covid restrictions, even the route of the parade has been curtailed till National Stadium (C-Hexagon of India Gate) unlike previous years when it was till Red Fort.
The Republic Day parade ceremony will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi visiting the National War Memorial around 9am.
The parade is expected to begin around 10am and will end at 11.30am. However, the timings may differ due to changes in the ceremony.

The ceremony can also be live-streamed on the YouTube channels of the national broadcaster.
Total 32 tableaus — 17 from states and union territories, six from the Defence ministry and nine from other Union ministries and paramilitary forces — depicting the nation's rich cultural heritage, economic progress and defence prowess will roll down the Rajpath at the Republic Day parade.
