UP: 32 devotees test Covid-19 positive at Magh Mela camps in Prayagraj

PRAYAGRAJ: As many as 32 devotees staying in different camps at the ongoing Magh Mela tested positive for Covid 19 infection in Prayagraj on Monday.
Nodal officer and additional chief medical officer Dr Rishi Sahai told TOI that all the infected persons have been shifted to Covid level-1 centre in Kalindipuram.
Dr Sahai said that all the persons who tested positive for infection were asymptomatic. He also claimed that Covid checking has been intensified at all the camps ahead of Paush Purnima snan at a time when devotees as kalpwasis have started flocking into mela campus.
The teams of health department are checking the Covid test reports of kalpwasis entering into mela campus. Dr Sahai, meanwhile, said: “We will be tracking a record of pilgrims, saints and seers staying in different camps and covid card have also been issued in the same regard.”
Around six mobile Covid testing teams have also been roped into service and health workers are visiting all the camps in five sectors on a routine basis.
