Karnal family robbed at gunpoint

KARNAL: Three unidentified men broke into the residence of a rice miller in Sector 9, Karnal and decamped with cash, jewellery and an SUV after holding the family members at gunpoint.
The incident took place on Saturday night, when rice miller Rajesh Singla was watching TV with his family. In his police complaint, Singla said the three masked men barged into his house at around 8pm and took the five family members as well as a domestic aide hostage at gunpoint.
He said they demanded cash and jewellery and threatened the family members of dire consequences if they did not yield. The men also snatched their mobile phones, which they dumped in the water before decamping with gold and silver jewellery amounting to crores, Rs 15 lakh and an SUV, Singla said.
According to him, police were informed as soon as the robbers escaped. DSP Rajiv Kumar, CIA and forensic teams reached the spot and started investigations. Police said the miscreants abandoned their car near Gharaunda and it has been recovered.
