As many as 771123 voters included in electoral roll this year

Bhubaneswar, Jan 25 (UNI) About 7,71,123 voters are included in the Electoral Roll during
the revision of electoral roll this year, Odisha Chief Electoral Officer S K Lohani said here
on Friday.
Talking to newspersons on the occasion of the celebration of the National Voters Day
(NVD) today the CEO said out of 7,71,123 voters 2,86,843 voters which constitute 37.20
per cent are first time Voters . They included 1,70,044 Male, 116,734 Female and 65 Third
Gender Voters.
At the State level function, organised virtually Mr Lohani congratulated all voters of Odisha
and said in democracy every vote and every voter is important so efforts are being made by
the Election Commission to facilitate maximum participation.
The NVD is being celebrated since 2011 to celebrate the foundation day of Election
Commission of India. With an objective to encourage more young voters to take part in
the Political process and infuse democratic values among all voters.
This year’s NVD has been celebrated with the theme – “ Making Our Voters Empowered,
Vigilant, Safe & Informed.”
Today’s celebration is also being held at district level and Booth level and the newly
enrolled voters were administered with Voters’ Pledge. They have been felicitated with
distribution of Electoral Photo Identity Cards ( EPICs).
Mr Lohani said this year the Election Commission has launched e-EPIC during NVD
celebration to facilitate voter registration as well as to deal with Poll related matters.
e-EPIC is an alternative and faster mode of obtaining EPIC in a digital Format, as a
proof of document for voter identification.
e-EPIC is a non editable PDF version of the EPIC that can be downloaded in mobile
or in a self printable form on the Computer.
The voter can bring it as a proof during polling. All the newly enrolled electors are
eligible to down load e-EPIC from 25th January 25 to January,31 next and all general
voters can download e-EPIC from February 1, 2021 onwards.
The citizens can download e-EPIC from Voter Help Line Mobile App, https://voterportal.eci.gov.in/and https://nvsp.in/

Nagaland detects 3 new COVID-19 positive cases

with these the total number of positive cases remained in the state 12079
Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Minister Pangnyu Phom in his regular tweet
informed that out of the three new COVID-19 positive cases were detected, two cases
in Peren and one case in Tuensang.

Strict Action against Drug Peddling continues in Andaman: DGP
