iPhone owners around the world are already thinking about the next big software update: iOS 15, which Apple will demonstrate in the summer of 2021 and release to the public in the autumn.
There may be some bad news for owners of older devices: for this new version it's likely that Apple will drop some more models from its list of supported iPhones. In this article we list the iPhones that will be able to install iOS 15.
iPhones compatible with iOS 15
Here are the iPhones we expect to support iOS 15:
All iPhone models that supported iOS 13 were also able to update to iOS 14. That generosity is unlikely to be repeated for iOS 15, and iPhone owners should prepare themselves to see certain models dropped from the update programme.
According to current information, the iPhone SE (2016), the iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus will not get iOS 15. They will all be more than five years old when the update is announced: the first-gen iPhone SE went on sale at the beginning of 2016, while the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus were released at the end of 2015.
Nevertheless, there is still a long list of supported devices, with the oldest models dating from the end of 2016 - the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus.
