Australian police say a suspected Canadian drug baron has been arrested in the Netherlands on an Interpol warrant. The 57-year-old was targeted as part of an operation that dismantled a global crime syndicate in 2019.
Crews in northern China have rescued 11 workers two weeks after they were trapped by an explosion in a gold mine. State broadcaster CCTV showed workers being hauled up in baskets on Sunday afternoon.
Portugal is holding a presidential election, with the moderate incumbent candidate strongly favored to earn a second five-year term, as a devastating COVID-19 surge grips the European Union country.
And in Argentina, an elective abortion law has taken effect under the watch of women's groups and government officials, who hope to ensure its full implementation despite opposition from conservative and church groups.
