UP govt decision for banning liquor is victory of Bihar prohibition model: JD(U)

UP govt decision for banning liquor is victory of Bihar prohibition model: JD(U)

Patna, Jan 25 (UNI) The ruling Janta Dal (U) in Bihar termed the decision of Uttar

Pradesh government for an amendment in the state liquor policy as victory of the

prohibition model of Bihar.

JD (U) spokesperson Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said here today that the prohibition

model of Bihar has created a positive atmosphere in the country and the decision

of Uttar Pradesh government led by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would prove

to be an important step towards making the nation a liquor free country.

Taking potshot at the Congress, Mr Prasad said, the Congress only utilised the

name of the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi but never followed the footsteps

pop Bapu.

He said that Mahatma Gandhi was against the use of liquor and had vociferously

spoken for prohibition on several occasions.

He said the prohibition decision should be linked with the centenary celebrations of

Champaran Satyagraha of Bapu who had a dream for making India a liquor free country.

Mr Prasad said that considering the demands of the women folk of the society the

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar implemented a total provision on April 1 2016 in Bihar and

the decision transformed the image of the state .

The ban on liquor changed the life of women and it also controlled domestic violence,

women atrocities, road accidents and several such incidents. It has also further

empowered the women of the state.

He claimed that Mr Kumar would never roll back the decision of total prohibition.
