Health & Family Welfare Director, Bijay Panigrahy on Monday said the State is likely to meet the target of vaccinating 1.92 lakh health workers today as part of the first phase of the drive.

Odisha has emerged as a leading State in Covid-19 vaccination drive with 1.52 lakh total beneficiaries and 3,452.81 vaccinations per million populace so far, he said.

According to Panigrahy, the health workers, who received the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine on January 16, will get the second dose in a mega drive starting from February 14.

“The vaccination drive will remain suspended on January 26 and will resume again from January 28. We have set a target to vaccinate all the registered health workers by February 10,” said Panigrahy.

Panigrahy further informed that as pulse polio immunization drive is scheduled for January 31, February 1 and 2, the COVID-19 vaccination drive will be suspended for these three days.

“We are anticipating a detailed guideline from the State government for vaccinating the frontline covid warriors which are likely to start soon. As the registration process has reached the final stages, we can know the exact number of frontline covid warriors by tonight,” Panigrahy added.
