Last week in telecoms: Infrastructure JV trend continues with Telefonica, Deutsche Telekom, Orange

Monday 25 January 2021 | 10:58 CET | News
Infrastructure was a central theme in the past week. More and more operators are choosing joint ventures in order to cover outlying and rural areas. We saw it with Proximus, which is working with Delta Fiber and Eurofiber to cover 'medium dense' areas, and now a partnership among German mobile operators to cover 'grey zones' and Orange's joint venture to bring FTTH to rural areas. Network expansion is driven by increasing data traffic, underlined by the latest Ookla figures on rising speeds, and the ever-growing OTT services market, highlighted by the latest figures from Netflix and Amazon.
