India and China will again hold Corps Commander level talks on Sunday after about two and a half months to ease the ongoing tension along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The deadlock at the border between India and China has been continuing since early May 2020. The ninth round meeting will be between XIV Corps Commander Lt Gen PGK Menon and Commander Major South Liu Lin of the South Xinjiang Military Region. The meeting between the two commanders will be held at Lush, on the Chinese side of the LAC.

The meeting aims to address the ongoing tension in East Ladakh for nine months. A representative of the Ministry of External Affairs is also expected to attend the meeting. An official gave information about this on Saturday. According to senior officials, the ninth round of talks is very important. It is hoped that there may be a written agreement between the two sides in this negotiation.

As in the last few meetings, representatives of the Ministry of External Affairs will also be a part of this meeting. The last military talks between the two sides took place on November 6. Earlier, at the Foreign Ministry level talks on December 18, 2020, the two countries stated that they were ready to continue working towards ensuring the withdrawal of troops from all stressed locations on the LAC. At the same time, there was agreement on the ninth round of talks.

Regarding the 8th round meeting of senior commanders held on 6 November 2020, both sides said that this meeting helped to ensure stability on the ground. During this eighth round of talks, the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China had said that they would ensure their frontline troops exercise restraint and avoid any misunderstandings.
