Chandigarh, Jan 24 (UNI) Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal said the world is incomplete without women and therefore everyone should respect women and daughters should be given more opportunities to move forward and become self-reliant.
Congratulating the people of the state on the occasion of National Girl Child Day in Yamunanagar on Sunday, Mr Kanwar Pal said the National Girl Child Day is celebrated on January 24, every year so as to make the society aware of rights of the girl child.
Elaborating on it, he said there is a visible change in the mindset of the people after the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign was started by the Prime Minister of the country and now the girls are being given opportunities to move forward and girls are proving their mettle in almost every field.
He said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has started many schemes for the safety and welfare of girls in Haryana which are benefitting them. He said legal aid is also being provided to girls and women and due to the awareness of people, there has been a decrease in cases of female foeticide.
He said that National Girl Child Day is also remembered as a day of celebrating woman power, its first objective is to clear misunderstandings about girls and to spread awareness and information about the adverse effects of female foeticide.
The Minister said under the guidance of Mr Manohar Lal Khattar, the sex ratio in the state is constantly improving and the daughters of the state are moving forward in every field and is making the State proud. He said change can be brought only by making the women aware about their rights. While the importance of girl child in families is being understood, the conditions are also changing due to the efforts being made by the government. He said parents should send their girl child to school so that girls can become self-sufficient on the basis of their talent and skills.
