Waste to power plant to be functional soon: Minister

Imphal, Jan 24 (UNI) Minister for MAHUD Henry Okram informed that the Waste-to-Power Plant located at Lamdeng will be inaugurated soon.

This was announced by him during the inspection at the Solid Waste Management Plant, Lamdeng, Imphal West today.

The Minister said that the Waste-to-Energy Plant will be dedicated to the public soon after due consultation with the Chief Minister N. Biren Singh.

He mentioned that the Power plant would be producing 600KW of electricity in the first phase. The government has successfully done the trial of the power plant and the approval from the Government of India is awaited. The Minister also said that the government will also set up a mini Solid Waste Management Plant nearby so that more waste can be treated and use resourcefully.

During the visit, Henry Okram heard the grievances and problems faced by the people residing in and around Lamdeng area. He assured that the government will do the needful at the earliest.
