Palghar, Jan 24 (UNI) A 37-year-old woman and her one-year-old son died on the spot and three other family members were severely injured when their car met with an accident on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad highway in Dahanu taluka of the district.
On Saturday the occupants of the car were on their way to attend a family function at Vapi, when their car met with an accident due to a flat tyre at Dhanori village, near Mahalakshmi temple, in Dahanu taluka, police said.
The injured have been admitted to the Kasa primary health centre and the bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem.
The injured included a six-year-old girl and a 65-year-old senior citizen.
The deceased were identified as Nazneen Shaikh (37) and Muzan Shaikh (01).
An offence under sections 304(A), 279, 337, 338 of Indian Penal Code and also the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered against the driver of car Ayan Shaikh (29) in this regard.
However, no arrest has been made so far in this connection, sources added.
