Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday distributed land leases to 1.6 lakh people in Assam's Sivasagar district and said, the goal is to give leases to all the original inhabitants of the state. This land-owning lease will guarantee self-respect, independence, and security.
The PM said, 'Today the government of Assam has removed the major concern of your life. With more than one lakh native families getting the right to own land, the major concern of your life has now gone away. Along with the fulfillment of expectations on Parakram Divas, there is also an opportunity to seek inspiration for the accomplishment of our national resolutions.
The PM said, 'Your love draws me again and again to the land of Assam. I have come to join the happiness associated with the original inhabitants of Assam. The affinity of Assam is my pleasure. The earlier governments had no concern. The Government of Assam removed the concern of the people. Even when our government was formed in Assam, at that time there were about six lakh native families who did not have legal papers of the land. But the government here under Servanand Sonowal worked with sincerity to address this concern of yours.
The PM said, now a large part of Assam has returned to the path of peace and development with the historic Bodo Accord. The agreement was followed by the first elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council, elected representative. Now the Bodo Territorial Council will establish new paradigms of development and trust. Over 40 thousand crore rupees have been invested over the years on the oil and gas infrastructure in Assam.
