CBI arrests two, including Regional Labour Commissioner in bribery case

Chennai, Jan 24 (UNI) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
has arrested a Regional Labour Commissioner (Central) Madurai
and a person in an alleged Rs 30,000 bribery case.
A CBI release said on Sunday that a case was registered against
the Regional Labour Commissioner and a resident of Triplicane
in Chennai on the allegations that the former was demanding
undue advantage from a private person, representing a private
company for issuing labour licence.
The CBI officials laid a trap and both the accused were intercepted
while exchanging the bribe amount of Rs 30,000.
The CBI also conducted searches at five places in Chennai and
Madurai.
Both of them were produced in the court of Principal Special Judge
for CBI Cases, Chennai and remanded in judicial custody till February
four.
