Suspicion over death: Woman’s body exhumed

Vadodara: A 23-year-old married woman’s body was exhumed at Valan village in Karjan taluka on Saturday after her father raised suspicion over her death.
The woman named Shaheena Sindhi had died on January 4 due to unknown reasons. When her father Moosa alias Mushtaq Jamod had inquired with her in-laws, they did not give proper answers, but Jamod had noticed blood oozing out of Sindhi’s nose at the funeral. He was suspicious, but in grief due to his daughter’s death, he could not do anything then. Meanwhile, Sindhi was buried on January 5 in Valan.
On January 12, when Jamod went to offer flowers at Sindhi’s grave, a villager told him that something untoward had happened with his daughter. As he was already suspicious, Jamod gave an application at Karjan police station and to the district collector for exhuming the body. The district administration gave a go ahead following which the body was taken out of the grave in front of an executive magistrate.
“The body had started to decompose but it was still in a condition wherein a post-mortem can be conducted,” said inspector M A Patel of Karjan police station. He added that the post-mortem was conducted by the forensic experts. “Once we get the report ascertaining a reason for the death, we will take further action,” he said.
Sindhi, originally a resident of Mota Fofadiya in Shinor taluka, had married Mohsin Sindhi in June last year.
