SuperSport United stretched their unbeaten run to nine games as goals from Bradley Grobler and Sipho Mbule secured a 2-0 win over Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at Thohoyandou Stadium on Sunday.
After a goalless first half, SuperSport broke the deadlock in the 59th minute through Grobler before Mbule popped up eight minutes later to double the visitors' advantage.
TTM started the brighter of the two sides but clear-cut chances were at a premium in a closely contested first half.
The hosts had a glorious opportunity to grab the lead after eight minutes of play following a long ball over the top, but Celimpilo Ngema could only manage a shot into the side netting from a tight angle.
TTM again went close to breaking the deadlock in the 23rd minute as Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali saw his venomous strike come back off the crossbar before being cleared by SuperSport defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.
SuperSport eventually mustered a response a few minutes later but the chance went to waste as Sipho Mbule fired wide of the goal on the half-volley.
But it was the hosts who would end the first half on the front foot, as Edgar Manaka forced a save from SuperSport keeper Ronwen Williams before teammate Grant Kekana produced two last-ditch blocks to frustrate TTM.
While SuperSport failed to impose themselves on proceedings in the first half, they produced a much-improved performance after the break.
After a muted start for both teams, the match sprang to life in the 59th minute after a Brighton Mhlongo howler in the TTM goal.
Bradley Grobler let fly from range and while the shot did have a bit of power, it should have been a straightforward save for Mhlongo, who fumbled the ball before watching on in horror as the ball rolled over the line.
TTM were still struggling to recover their composure after conceding the opener and they fell further behind in the 67th minute as Mbule got in on the act, with Kudakwashe Mahachi providing the assist.
The hosts redoubled their efforts in the closing stages of the contest but they could not find a way past Williams in the SuperSport goal, with Ravhuhali, in particular, going close to pulling one back on more than one occasion.
However, it was fairly comfortable for SuperSport in the end, as they managed to keep their clean sheet intact and claim all three points on offer.
