Bishnupur, January 23 2021: As observed all across the Nation, Parakram Diwas (birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose) was observed today at Moirang INA complex in Bishnupur district.

It may be mentioned that the Centre had announced to celebrate the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji with year-long activities from January 23, 2021 to January 23, 2022 .

People from different walks of life visited the INA complex, where the tricolour flag of India National Army was hoisted for the first time, and paid floral tributes to the statue of Netaji there for his selfless service to the Nation.

BJP National spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra also visited INA complex at Moirang.

He was accompanied by Moirang AC MLA, P Sharatchandra, BJP Mani-pur Pradesh president, S Tikendra, Chairperson of Moirang Municipal Council, M Romibala Devi, BJP Bishnupur District Committee president, RK Bimola Devi and many BJP workers and Councillors.

After paying floral tributes to the Netaji, Dr Sambit Patra stated he is delighted to visit the place where the National Flag of India was hoisted for the first time.

He also offered tributes to unsung soldiers from the area who were martyred in the Indian independence movement.

Indian Tourism Foundation also organised Parakram Diwas at INA Memorial Complex at Moirang under the aegis of the Department of Art and Culture.

Students of GEM Public School, Pourabi who took part in the celebration sang "Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja Khushi Ke Geet Gaye", to honour the contribution of INA.

The gathering paid floral tributes to the statue of Netaji.

Manipur Thinkers Forum (MTF) also celebrated Parakram Diwas at INA Headquarters at Moirang Konjengbam Leikai by hoisting Indian National Flag and paying floral tributes to the portrait of Subhas Chandra Bose.

The celebration was attended by retired Lt General Konsam Himalay as chief guest, MTF president retired Lt Gen, LN Singh as president and Principal of Moirang College Dr K Anand as guest of honour.

A senior functionary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Ashokant and founder general secretary of MTF, M Ashnikumar were also present at the function.

Discussion on the life and works of Subhas Chandra Bose and paying floral tributes to his portrait were the main events of this function.

The observance began by singing the National song and anthem.

Resource person of the programme, Retd Associate Professor, Y Modhu spoke about the life of Netaji and his vision of India as a whole.

At the event, retd Lt Gen LN Singh stated that the INA not only played a significant role in the freedom struggle of India but also invoked a spirit of oneness among many Indians.

However, the contributions of the Indian National Army to the freedom struggle of India are not given proper coverage in Indian textbooks, he lamented.

Retd Lt General Konsam Himalay also spoke at the event.

He urged the gathering to learn leadership lessons from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.

All India Forward Bloc, Manipur State Committee and INA Japanese Receptionist Association also observed the anniversary at Maibam Lotpa Ching also known as Red Hill by paying floral tributes to the Netaji.

During the observance, a book 'Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose' translated by BS Rajkumar was also released.

Prof Nongmaithem Tombi, Kshetri Biren, Sahitya Akademi Awardee and Manipur Tourism Development Society president Y Iboyaima attended the programme.
