Implement 'Elevated Traffic System' in Imphal City: CPI

Imphal, January 23 2021: Elevated Traffic System should be implemented in Imphal city areas.

Communist Party of India Manipur State Council (CPI MSC) said this in a district level convention held today at Irabat Bhavan, said a statement issued by CPI MSC.

Traffic congestion at the city has hampered the developmental work in the State, patients seeking emergency medical assistance are in the danger of dying on the road due to heavy traffic and this also serves as a major roadblock in the plan to make Imphal City a 'Smart City', added the statement.

CPI MSC suggested some measures that could taken up to solve the problem of Traffic congestion in the city including the construction parking facilities like underground parking system and high rise parking areas (multi-storeyed parking spaces) which can be constructed in areas presently occupied by schools which can be shifted to the outskirts of Imphal City and channelisation of the Nambul river during monsoon to Merakhong so as to avoid flooding, added the statement.

The party also demanded immediate reopening of the three Ima markets with strict observation of SOPs in view of the hardship being faced by people whose livelihood has been affected by the closure market since March last year, further added the statement.

The statement also added that resolution demanding implementation of 'Urban Employment Schemes' in Imphal City.
