LUCKNOW: Two senior IAS officers of UP cadre — Alok Tandon and Alok Kumar I — have been given key positions at the Centre as the appointments committee of the cabinet (ACC) announced postings of senior bureaucrats on Saturday. The third officer from the state, additional chief secretary, revenue and finance, Renuka Kumar, who had also been empanelled by the Centre recently, will have to wait for some more time.
Tandon, the 1986-batch officer, who is infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) in UP, has been appointed as secretary, mining, while Alok Kumar I, from the 1988 batch, and is principal secretary, heavy industries, here, has been posted as energy secretary at the Centre.
The appointment of two officers from the state to key positions has brought cheers to the state bureaucracy as two other more officers of UP cadre, Sanjay Agarwal and DS Mishra, are already heading agriculture and urban development departments .
With both Alok Tandon and Alok Kumar I taking the charge shortly, CM will have to fill the key positions of the IIDC and principal secretary, heavy industries soon.
