National Girl Child Day is being celebrated across the country today. The purpose of celebrating this day is to make girls aware of their rights and discrimination in society. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders greeted the daughters of the country on the occasion.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, 'Today is a day to appreciate all those working specifically towards empowering girls and ensure that they get respect and opportunity. On National Girl Child Day, we salute our #DeshKiBeti and her achievements in various fields. The central government has taken several initiatives, which are focused on empowering the girl child. This includes access to education, better healthcare. '

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan wrote, 'A reflection of myself, my daughter, is a miracle that never ceases to amaze me. Let us all be proud of our daughters and celebrate their achievements today and every day. '
