Capt Amarinder kept Punjab farmers in dark over new agri bills : AAP

Jalandhar, Jan 24 (UNI) The Aam Admi Party (AAP) on Sunday took Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to task for keeping the farmers of the state in dark for more than a year over the ‘upcoming’ three new agri bills.
AAP's national spokesperson and Punjab incharge for party affairs Raghav Chaddha, while interacting with the mediapersons here, alleged that a high level committee was constituted by the Prime Minister to study and give suggestions if any to be included in the draft of the proposed bills to which Capt Amarinder Singh was also a part.
Capt Amarinder Singh was fully conversant with the draft of the bill as he was included in the list of the ten chief ministers who were part of the committee and his name was at the seventh place as per the notification issued on August 7, 2019, Mr Chaddha said.
He said," Capt Amarinder Singh should have told the farmers of the state about the new agri bills which were going to be tabled in the parliament for passing. Had Captain disclosed this to the farmers, the matter could have been solved a year ago but Capt Amarinder deliberately kept the farmers in dark to support the bills for the cause to get his son and family absolved of the ongoing investigations by the Enforcement Directorate.
The AAP leader said it seemed to be like a match fixing between Capt Amarinder Singh and Prime Minister Narendra Modi to keep the farmers hanging in uncertainty over the bills.
In a reply to a question with regard to the constitutionality of the bills, Chaddha said it was a clear case of over passing the constitution as agriculture was a state subject. When asked why Arvind Kejriwal led AAP government of Delhi had implemented one of the three agri bills, he said it was linked to trade and commerce and was passed by the parliament, the states cannot refuse to implement such a bill.
