Surat: Three workers sustained burns following leakage of nitric acid in a company located in Jhagadia GIDC on Friday morning. The incident occurred at Aarti Industries’ old plant that manufactures nitric acid.
One worker was treated on the spot for minor burns.
The other two workers identified as Dilip Patel and Deva Rathwa were shifted to a private hospital in Bharuch for further treatment. The accident took place at a pressure pump of a line carrying nitric acid.
Sources said that the health of both the workers was stable. The entire matter is also being investigated by the Bharuch District Factory Inspector’s Office.
MD Vaghela, deputy director, industrial safety and health, Bharuch said, “There was a leak from the nitric acid pump. Two workers standing nearby suffered burns. Being a hypertensive pump, the acid came on the workers with force. Investigation in the matter was on.”
