Mumbai City Latest Updates: CM Uddhav Thackeray inaugurates Balasaheb Thackeray's statue

On Saturday evening, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray inaugurated Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray's statue at south Mumbai's Fort. The ceremony was held on the occasion of the late supremo's 95th birth anniversary. Read more

The statue stands 9 feet tall on a 11 feet pedestal. The pose of the statue is Bal Thackeray's signature open-armed pose, which he used to gesture during his speech to bless party workers. Famous sculptor Shashikant Phadke has carved the statue.

Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and his wife Rashmi, Aaditya Thackeray, Eknath Shinde, Chhagan Bhujbal, and Balasaheb Thorat have arrived at the venue. Amit Thackeray, Raj Thackeray's son, has also arrived.

Nationalist Congress Party supremo Sharad Pawar on Saturday visited the Serum Institute of India (SII) in Pune, where a major fire had broken out two days ago. Five contractual labourers engaged in electrical work lost their lives due to the blaze. Pawar visited the affected building at around 12 pm today and took stock of the situation. Maharashtra Chief Minister UddhavThackeray will inaugurate the reconstructed Patri Pool bridge, which connects Kalyan to Dombivli in Thane district, on January 25 through video-conference.Shiv Sena MP from Kalyan, Shrikant Shinde, told this to reporters on Friday."The old Patri Pool bridge, which was built in 1914, posed a big threat as it had become dilapidated. It was pulled down in November 2018. Although its reconstruction process faced several hurdles, the new bridge is now ready," he said."It will provide a big relief to the commuters, particularly the residents of Kalyan and Dombivli," he said.
