The recent incident in which an elephant died after a burning tyre was thrown at it in Tamil Nadu has sparked outrage among netizens. A viral video of the incident has also been making the rounds on social media. Twitter users are using #ElephantDeath to express their condolence and anger towards those who threw the burning tyre. Mudumalai Forest Department reportedly arrested two persons who are being interrogated for their role in the tragic incident. A provisional diagnosis suggested that the septic fistula filled with pus and severe loss of blood leading to acute anaemia, hypovolemia resulted in shock and death of the tusker, though the burns on the ear have not been the cause of death.
