Willian Jose: Wolves sign Real Sociedad striker on loan

Willian Jose has previously spent time on loan at Real Madrid, Real Zaragoza and Las Palmas

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed striker Willian Jose on loan from Real Sociedad until the end of the season.

The Brazilian has scored 62 goals in 170 appearances since joining the La Liga side in 2016, including six during in 2020-21.

Wolves have the option to buy the 29-year-old in the summer.

Jose will provide an extra option in attack for Nuno Espirito Santo's side, with Mexican forward Raul Jimenez out with a fractured skull.

Jose is not expected to be available for Wednesday's Premier League game against Chelsea (18:00 GMT kick-off).

  • Its all irrelevant really, Nuno will be shown the door soon, the decline in the team has been extraordinary, you can't use Jiminez as an excuse, he is one player, the whole team have been dreadful. Something going on behind the scenes at Wolves and its poisonous.

  • Nuno has been watching Willian Jose for a while and rates him very highly. He has a tough job on his hands to make hay for Raul and if he succeeds its give Wolves real fire power.

    If he fails he goes back to Spain when Raul is well on the road to recovery.

  • Strange old club. I guess they know how to get past the foreign player rule like they did with the FFP rule when in the championship. Had they not won promotion the club would have had points deductions. Still they pass the EPL fit and propper test so all good. Just paid the fine (€600K) and move on.

  • Great for Fabio Silva. Nothing inspires confidence in a striker quite like bringing in Real Scoiedad reserve striker with a poor top flight record.

  • Had this guy on fifa 20, he was very useful, an excellent finisher. Terribly slow though

    Refreshing to read that Wolves supporters on here are under no illusions about the clubs dwindling form of late. Makes a pleasant change from the usual "forget what the league table is saying, we are still the best" tripe from the armchair fanboys.

    Wolves are a proper club with proper supporters and well liked.

      Erm, jota paid 12 sold for 45, neves, paid 16 could double our money, Neto, paid 11 easily worth 35-40, moutinho paid 5 mil & absolute class, patricio paid 18, still worth that and a few of them are the current European and nation league champions, and that’s just naming a few, not bad business is it, look what you get for your money in England, vastly over priced average players

  • Strikers are not the problem at Wolves. It is the frustrating negative football and lack of service to the forward players that needs to be addressed.

  • Wolves, Newcastle and Liverpool have currently the worst form in the league and some have lost key players. So it's a good move to go out and get somebody even on loan to fill the void.
