GURUGRAM: In what is likely to delay the construction of the medical college further, the cost estimates for the Sheetla Mata medical college are being revised yet again. This comes after some local political leaders expressed concerns over the “high cost” of the project with the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) at a meeting held last month.
According to sources within the GMDA, some local leaders had cited that the cost of the project was a bit on a higher side.
“Following which, the chief minister asked us to reconsider the cost estimates. We are working on a revised DPR and it will be presented in the next authority meeting for final approval,” said a senior GMDA official, adding that the next meeting is likely to be held by March beginning.
The official added that they will also carry out a comparison with other similar projects, which were executed recently. CM Manohar Lal Khattar had approved the revised DPR for the medical college last month at a cost of Rs 981 crore.
TOI had earlier reported that the medical college, proposed in Sector 102 of Kherki Majra, will have a capacity of 600 beds and 100 more in the trauma centre.
Talking about the project, Khattar had said that the medical college will have all latest facilities, including residential hostels and quarters for students as well as doctors.
The revised DPR also includes a multimodal public transportation hub at the entrance with provision of bus halt and transport exchange with various modes such as taxis, autos, rickshaws, scooters etc. The number of operation theatres has also been increased from three to 19. The revised DPR also has a provision for an additional 400 cars in the basement parking.
