Imphal, January 21 2021: Heingang Police arrested 54 persons for violating Manipur Conservation of Paddy Land and Wetland Act, 2014 .

The 54 persons were arrested during a drive Heingang PS conducted at Khabam Lamkhai to check illegal construction on paddy land on January 18 .

The police also seized 13 Tata Tippers, 4 JCB vehicles, 2 Bolero and several construction equipment.

The arrested persons along with the seized vehicles and construction equipment have been released following direction of Deputy Commissioner Imphal East, said Officer in-Charge Heingang Police Station in a statement today.

The drive which started on January 5 will continue, said the police.
