Apple iPhone 12 Mini not selling much compared to iPhone 12 Pro models: Report
The affordable iPhone 12 Mini was expected to be Apple’s trump card to attract first time iPhone users. But reports claim that iPhone 12 mini is not selling much when compared to the iPhone 12 Pro models. Despite being expensive, buyers are mostly eager to either buy the iPhone 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max.

As per a report by DigiTimes, the iPhone 12 Mini is mainly made for the US and European markets but the pandemic seems to have affected its sales. “Pegatron has seen a slowdown in orders for the ‌iPhone 12 mini‌ as sales of the model in the US and Europe are affected negatively by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to industry sources,” said DigiTimes in its report citing industry sources. Pegatron makes most iPhone 12 Mini models.

The report added, “iPhone 12 Mini‌ is targeting mainly consumers in the US and Europe, but overall smartphone sales there have been significantly undermined by the pandemic.”

The demand for the smaller iPhone 12 Mini is lukewarm even in eastern markets like China. The Chinese market favours large screen devices and the demand of iPhone 12 Pro models have been significantly greater when compared to the mini.

Reports quoting investment notes from Morgan Stanley claimed that Apple may not be putting much effort on making iPhone 12 Mini for the first quarter of 2021 and will ramp up production for the iPhone 12 Pro models.

In India, the iPhone 12 mini is available at Rs 59,990 in the Amazon Republic Day Sale after bank discount and exchange offer. The phone features a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR display and powered by the A14 Bionic chip. Moreover, the mobile sports a dual-camera setup that includes 12MP ultra-wide and wide cameras and a 12MP TrueDepth front camera.
