AHMEDABAD: Airport police on Wednesday night impounded a car that had crashed into a tree near the Kotarpur water works and found 72 bottles of Indianmade foreign liquor (IMFL) in it. The driver managed to give police the slip.
Police said they are tracing the owner of the car based on the registration number. According to police sources, when they were on vehicle-checking duty near Indira Bridge Circle, they noticed a car coming towards them in a suspicious manner.
“We signalled the car to stop but the driver sped away towards the Bhadreshwar trijunction. We chased the car but later saw it had crashed into a tree. On opening the rear door, we found three boxes of IMFL with 180-ml bottles of IMFL and 72 cans of beer. The driver was not to be seen,” said a police official.
