Biswa Sarma to grace WMC session

Imphal, January 21 2021: Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will attend the World Meetei Convention's (WMC) February plenary session in Guwahati as chief guest, said the Central Executive Committee of the WMC today.

Himanta Biswa agreed to attend the plenary session when a delegate including members of the committee met him yesterday night at his residence in Guwahati.

Vice chairman of Manipuri Development Council, Jiten Singha; convenor Organising Committee of Plenary Session Hari Singha; WMC advisor Potsangbam Sonamani and chairman Heikrujam Nabashyam met the Minister, said a statement of the Central Executive Committee of WMC (World Meetei Convention).

In connection with the planned February plenary session, WMC advisor P Sonamani and chairman H Nabashyam have met several organisations of Assam.

Two sessions of meetings were also held at Manipur House in New Delhi on January 15 and 17.The meeting which was attended by representatives of United Meitei Society Assam formed a Delhi unit of the WMC with Aheibam Prahlad as its president.

In Guwahati too, the WMC members held a meeting with several Assam Manipuri organisations and elected executive members to the newly founded Mani-puri Development Council.

A meeting of Manipuris in Shillong today has also formed a WMC unit of Meghalaya with Akoijam Jugindro as its president, said the Central Executive Committee appealing to all to extend support to the plenary session in Guwahati.
