Gumla: Delhi Police has rescued seven minor girls trafficked from Gumla and Simdega and arrested three traffickers after a raid at a placement agency in Nihal Vihar police station area on Wednesday night.
Gumla SP HP Janardhanan on Thursday said six minors are from his district while one is from adjoining Simdega. He said, "A team of Gumla police will be dispatched to Delhi soon to bring back the girls safely to their homes."
All rescued girls are between 13 and 16 years of age. According to reports, the girls were trafficked to Delhi by the culprits a few months back in the name of giving good jobs. Later, they were asked to work as domestic help and do menial jobs.
When the girls objected, they were locked on the placement agency premises for days. One of the girls, somehow, escaped and came in contact with JR Sharan Rescue Foundation through a person and narrated heir woes. The foundation alerted the police leading to their rescue, police said.
