Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that Sarikar has identified more than 1100 areas along with the border and coastal areas, where students of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) will soon begin training. He also reiterated once again that the government is committed to implementing the preference given to NCC cadets in terms of employment.

Rajnath Singh, who arrived at the annual National NCC rally at NCC Parade Ground here, told the cadets, our Prime Minister had decided that NCC should be expanded. NCC training should be provided in border and coastal areas. We have identified more than 1100 schools in areas where NCC training will be imparted soon.

He said the government has decided that NCC cadets will be given preference whenever it comes to employment. As far as I know, this preference is being given. In the selection process, NCC cadets are awarded extra marks. But the government is committed to implementing this system properly. He also praised the NCC's brilliant role as the country's second defense line. He informed that the government has also increased 143 awards to be given to various categories in NCC to 243. Also, the amount given in these awards has also been increased.

The defense minister praised the help given by NCC cadets during the epidemic to distribute food packets, masks, and sanitizers among the people. He said the dream of a self-reliant India is possible only with the support of the youth. We are making our youth strong and capable so that they can build a successful future. NCC is playing an important role in this.

NCC is also empowering women

The Defense Minister said, earlier NCC had only 28% girl cadets, but now this participation has increased to 43% of total cadets. We are moving towards women empowerment through NCC. Let us know that about 1000 NCC cadets from all the states and Union Territories of the country, including 380 girls, have also arrived in the NCC camp running for almost a month. This camp will run till 28 January.
