The PLI scheme rolled out under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan in April 2020 covered mobile manufacturing, manufacturing of bulk drugs and medical devices. ​​Following the positive response received on the scheme, in November 2020, it was expanded to cover ten new sectors.

The most effective and painless way of boosting tax revenue while ensuring that that nascent recovery gains strength is to levy an additional GST of 5% on all imports to balance off the non-GST taxes like electricity duty, property taxes, etc
