Team A, Team C post second wins in 1st MNCA Women T-20 Trophy

Imphal, January 20 2021: MNCA Team A and Team C were able to register their second wins in a row today in the 1st MNCA Women T-20 Trophy being underway at Luwangpokpa Cricket ground, Luwangsangbam under the aegis of Manipur Cricket Association.

In today's first match, Team C which earned a 17 run victory against Team B in its opening match yesterday defeated Team D by 14 runs for the second win.

After winning the toss, Team C elected to bat first.

Kiranbala scored 20 runs before Loidangton came out to hit the highest 31 off 28 balls in this innings but Team D's Ronibala impressed with a four wicket haul to force Team C all out for 100 in 18.4 overs.

Khadija of Team D also claimed two wickets as Chingkheileima managed one in this innings.

Team D, however, slump to 86 for 8 in their quota of 20 overs despite Ronibala's knock of 38 runs as L Niruka of Team C enjoyed a three wicket haul.

Kiranbala and Th Niruta also chipped in with a wicket apiece in this innings which saw openers of Team D, Manimacha and L Linthoi going out on ducks.

Loidangton of the winning team was declared player of this match.

Meanwhile, in the second match of the day and the fourth match of the tournament, Team A chased down Team B's target of 80 runs in 12 overs to earn an 8 wicket win and second victory of the tournament.

Ganga who shone with an unbeaten 90 to help Team A earn its first win yesterday, continued to impress with an unbeaten 51 and steered her team to the second win.

Team B won the toss and elected to bat first but Team A's bowling attack led by Meri restricted them to 79 for 9 in 20 overs.

Monica topscored for Team B with 16 runs in her name while Seterny and Ranjita added 13 and 12 runs respectively.

Meri scalped three wickets in this innings as Ganga and Priyangka proved their worth by claiming two wickets each.

Jeeteshwari also picked up a wicket.

Though Priyangka of Team A departed on 2, Team A's chase remained smooth as Ganga punished Team B bowlers to finish the innings on an unbeaten 51 off 37 balls.

Rebika (4) was also not out when the team accomplished the big win in 12 overs.

Team B's Monica and Pinky claimed a wicket each though their bowling attack proved too blunt in this innings.

Ganga who shone with both the bat and ball was named player of the match for the second time following the big win.

Team A will play Team C in the 5th match tomorrow and Team B will take on Team D in the 6th match.
