Karnataka: I never hankered for any particular portfolio, will do my best, says Sullia MLA S Angara

S Angara is a six-time MLA from Sullia reserved constituency of Dakshina Kannada district.
MANGALURU: S Angara, a first time minister who has been allocated fisheries, ports and inland transport department according to the list approved by Raj Bhavan on Thursday reiterated that he would serve the state in any capacity as deemed fit by the chief minister and the party.
S Angara is a six-time MLA from Sullia reserved constituency of Dakshina Kannada district.
Angara told TOI, "I never hankered for any particular portfolio. I will do my best in the given portfolio."
Angara still has not been officially notified about his portfolio till this report was sent.
Regarding whether he knew the problems of fishermen, he said that he was aware (of problems) to a certain extent.
"As soon as I’m notified about the portfolio, I will sit with the department officials and fisher leaders, understand the nuances of my department, discuss issues threadbare and try to find solutions," he said.
Fisherfolk in this part of the state have been affected by a gamut of problems with the recent one being loan waiver money bouncing back from close to 4,000 accounts, hike in diesel prices putting a dent in their operations, not enough cold storage solutions, welfare schemes for fisher women, among others.
The double hattrick MLA became first time minister in the recent cabinet expansion.
