Web series row: UP cops serve notice to director Ali Abbas Zafar and writer Gaurav Solanki, both asked to appear for probe on 27th January

A notice has been served to filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar and Gaurav Solanki, the writer of a controversial web series,by UP Police. The cops who had arrived at the filmmaker and writer's residence said, 'We have served notice asking them to appear before the Investigation Officer on 27th January in Lucknow.' The makers of the series have already approached Bomba HC in the matter. The controversy which erupted post a web series was released on an online platform doesn't seem to die down soon. The Saif Ali Khan starrer series, it's actors, makers and video streaming platform's officials were booked by Uttar Pradesh police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Later, the IB Ministry also summoned the online platform's officials in connection with the controversy, post which the makers issued an apology. An official statement from the show’s cast and crew read: 'The cast and crew did not have any intention to offend the sentiments of any individual, caste, community, race, religion or religious beliefs or insult or outrage any institution, political party or person, living or dead. The cast and crew takes cognizance of the concerns expressed by the people and unconditionally apologise if it has unintentionally hurt anybody’s sentiments.' Filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar has earlier revealed that 'the cast and crew of the show have decided to implement changes in the series' post the allegations of it hurting religious sentiments of many viewers.
