IPL 2021 Auction: Parthiv Patel sarcastically trolls RCB for releasing him from squad after ‘being retired’

IPL 2021 Auction: Former Indian wicket-keeper Patel took a sly dig at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for ‘releasing him after being retired’ as teams announced the list of retained players ahead of the player auction for the IPL 2021 on Wednesday.

Notably, the southpaw, who was the part of RCB set-up in IPL 2020, retired from all forms of cricket last month and joined Mumbai Indians as their talent scout.

However, the Bangalore-based franchise mentioned Patel’s name in the list of released players after which Parthiv took to his official Twitter page to sarcastically thank RCB for releasing him even after his retirement.

It is worth noting that Parthiv Patel moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2018 and was tasked with the responsibility of opening the batting. The former Gujarat captain scored 526 runs in 20 matches. However, he didn’t’ play a single match for RCB in IPL 2020 as the team went with a young opener in Devdutt Padikkal, who ended the season as their top scorer.
