PHED Minister opens XXII PNTM Tournament at Purul

Senapati, January 20 2021: The XXII Tournament of the Poumai Naga Students Union (PNTM) was kicked off by L Dikho, Minister, PHED, Printing & Stationery as the chief guest at the inaugural function at Purul under Senapati district.

The tournament organised under the theme, "Engraving Youth", was hosted by Purul Youth and Students Organization (PYSO) with DD Thaisii, MLA Karong AC who is also a former president of the student body as the chief host.

The program was attended by ML Markson, former Chairman, ADC Senapati as the guest of honour in the presence of former and incumbent MLAs and ADC Members from the Poumai Naga community; SDOs and different DLOs of Senapati district.

Isaac Thaoveinii, president, PNTM led a condolence service to former president of the student body (L) Raisii Rashi of Purul Akutpa who expired on January 13 last.

58 teams are reportedly competing in the football competition of the sporting event which will also see competitions for volleyball, basketball, badminton, marathon and some individual games.

The event will run till February 2 .

Speaking at the occasion, chief host DD Thaisii asked all to complete the tournament with understanding and in a peaceful manner.

Guest of honour, ML Markson, ADC called the tournament a historic event with huge participants from different villages.

The former ADC chairman urged all to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship.

Speaking as the chief guest, Minister L Dikho called the gathering as a platform to bring unity and peace through such gathering.

The Minister urged all to take sports as the biggest resource to earn money and bring development through such achievements.

More than 30 young achievers from the Poumai Naga community in different fields were felicitated during the program.

Delegates from the UNC, NPO, NSF, SDSA, SDOAM, Senapati District Sports Association, Razeba Students Union, Mao Students Union, Maram Students Union, Thangal Students Union and Zeliangrong Students Union attended the program.

Exhibition match between PNTM executives and the executives of the Razeba Students Union was played after the inaugural function.
