MYSURU: The Department of Collegiate Education (DCE) has made it mandatory for students to attend either online or offline classes without fail. According to the SoP released by the DCE on starting classes for the UG and PG students, attendance will be taken while conducting both online and offline classes.
DCE joint director R Mugeshappa said students shall either attend online or offline classes. “Attending one of the two is must,” he said.
“On Monday, we held a meeting of all the college principals where directions were issued to get in touch with all the students and ensure that they start attending offline classes,” he informed.
University of Mysore (UoM) registrar R Shivappa said, “All the efforts are made to ensure that students attend either online or offline classes. We are convincing them with a humanitarian approach. As the fear of infection is still very much in the society, we need to convince them,” he explained.
Test is not mandatory
When DCE started offline classes for final semester UG and PG students, Covid-19 negative report was made compulsory. However, the rule has been dropped now. “Only a consent letter from the parents is enough to attend classes,” explained the authorities.
